This elegant French Reproduction Secretary or Secrétaire has a characteristic bottom-hinged front panel that lifts forward to reveal a writing surface and cubbyholes for stationery accouterments. The raised back features two open style petite cupboards either side of a single dovetailed drawer with brass pull and open back overhead. The delicate and intricate marquetry traced in woodland themes forms a boundary around a panel of contrasting natural wood veneer. This pattern is repeated on the carved apron, which flows down naturally through the elegant cabriole legs. The apparently delicate form hides a robust construction of kiln-dried hardwood, which assures a long life for this exquisite piece.
